Jobs and Labour Market
European Commission documents (e.g. White Paper 2011 - transport) underline the fact that inadequate and insufficient exploitation of multimodal transport in Europe is largely caused by the poor understanding of the inland waterway sector and its benefits as well as lack of information with regard to associated job opportunities.

HINT project plans to provide an interesting, yet enlightening insight into what inland waterway transport and navigation really is by making full use of the four Information and Training Centres established in Austria, Romania, Croatia and Hungary.

Their role is thus to act as potent and stimulating instruments for the promotion of multimodal transport with a focus on inland navigation as alternative transport means, improvement of the basically negative image of this sector, attraction of youngsters to promising careers in IWT and thus mitigation of existing shortage of staff.
